Campus Security
In 1998, the federal government passed the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act, formerly known as The Student Right to Know Act of 1990. This law requires college, universities and post-secondary institutions receiving federal funds to disclose the reported instances of criminal activity on their campus.
The law specifically requires the reporting of violent crime, burglary, and motor vehicle thefts, as well as a summary of arrest and disciplinary referrals for liquor law, drug abuse and weapons violations.
